Charlie Parker Jazz Festival
Presented by New York's City Parks Foundation, the 16th annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival will provide world class music on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, the 24th in Manhattan. The festival, which celebrates the legacy of Charlie Parker, will be held in two neighborhoods where Parker lived and worked. The Saturday performances, which will feature Barry Harris, Charles McPherson, Vanessa Rubin, Rashied Ali, and Robert Glasper (pictured), will take place in Harlem's Marcus Garvey Park. The Lower East Side's Tomkins Square Park will house the Sunday lineup, which includes Randy Weston, Jerry Gonzalez, Eric Lewis, and Gretchen Parlato.
The performances begin at 3:00pm both days, and are free.
