Search and Restore: Jazz in New York
"Search and Restore" is a music series featuring cutting edge jazz. Its producers, Adam Schatz and James Donahue, became frustrated with the difficulty of finding affordable venues in which to see live experimental jazz, so in 2007 they began to book performances by some of New York's top musicians at the Tap Bar in the Knitting Factory, which fits 200 people and does not require a drink minimum.
This Tuesday, Dec. 2nd, is the last night of jazz at the Knitting Factory, which is moving from its TriBeCa location to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The farewell event is going to be big, featuring six bands, including musicians Tyshawn Sorey, Pete Robbins, Andrew D'Angelo, Dan Weiss, and Steven Bernstein.
The music starts at 8:30 pm, and tickets are $15, or $12 for students. The Knitting Factory's address is 74 Leonard Street. Check out the Search and Restore website for more information. Also, stay tuned for the new, revamped site, which will act as a guide to jazz in New York.
