Tomorrow, Friday the 16th of January, jazz critic Gary Giddins will interview saxophonist Joshua Redman at the CUNY Center for Humanities in Manhattan. According to the center's website, Redman will "discuss his place in the history of jazz." The chat begins at 6:30 pm in the Elebash Recital Hall.
Also, keep an eye out for my review of Redman's new album, Compass (Nonesuch), featuring bassists Larry Grenadier and Reuben Rogers, and drummers Brian Blade and Gregory Hutchinson. The reason the review is not posted yet is that I am still waiting for my copy of the CD to arrive!
If you readers happen to have heard the album, and have any thoughts you'd like to share, please post them in the blog comments, or in my forum.
