Eddie Palmieri at Lincoln Center
Latin Jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri will bring his band, La Perfecta II, to the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center on February 6th and 7th, 2009.
Palmieri broke onto the Latin Jazz scene in the 1960s with a percussive style at the piano and a band with unconventional instrumentation. Instead of trumpets and saxophones, he wrote arrangements that featured two trombones and a flute. The resulting sound elicited comparisons to "roaring elephants."
La Perfecta II will perform music from the original band written between 1961 and 1968. For tickets, visit the Jazz at Lincoln Center website.
