On February 27th, the SFJAZZ Collective will begin its 2009 tour, during which it will perform arrangements of tunes by pianist McCoy Tyner as well as original compositions by each of the members of the group.
The ensemble, which was founded by the non-profit organization SFJAZZ, has presented some of the top contemporary musicians since it began in 2004. Past members include Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, and Brian Blade. Currently, the band features Miguel Zenón, Joe Lovano, Eric Harland, Matt Penman, Robin Eubanks, Dave Douglas, and Renee Rosnes.
