Smalls Jazz Club Archive Recordings

Friday May 29, 2009
If you've ever been to Smalls Jazz Club in New York City's Greenwich Village, then you are probably aware that even if you were to choose to visit the basement venue randomly, you would surely happen upon great music.

Now you can test that hypothesis without being in the city. Since 2007, the club has been recording its concerts, and the audio archive is accessible through its site. Check out recordings of shows by Mark Turner, Jimmy Greene, Brad Mehldau, Nasheet Waits, and many, many others.

This, along with NPR's 'Live at the Village Vanguard' series, makes it possible to get a taste of the heart of the New York Jazz Scene from your own home.
