Jazz on TV on the Computer

A few months ago I wrote about how, thanks to streaming digital video, you can watch live jazz performances from the comfort of your own home. Both Smalls and the Village Vanguard, bastions of what can be considered the mainstream jazz scene, broadcast video of performances on their websites. Now the avant-garde world is on TV on the computer as well. Roulette, a Soho venue committed to experimental music has launched Roulette TV, which shows performances and interviews with featured artists.

The current video lineup includes performances by Henry Threadgill's Zooid, saxophonist Darius Jones, and the Mary Halvorson Quintet, whose concert I reviewed here. The above image is of Jon Irabagon, John Hébert, and Jonathan Finlayson during their March 18th, 2010 performance.
