James Hall reviews Unstandard, the 2011 release by the New York Standards Quartet, also known as NYSQ. The quartet includes saxophonist Tim Armacost, pianist David Berkman, bassist Yosuke Inoue, and drummer Gene Jackson, and their wont is to treat well-known jazz standards with loose and playful interpretations.
